Vietnam’s unilateral visa exemption policy for UK and European countries has just been amended this afternoon, March 9, 2020. Accordingly, the UK and 7 other European countries including Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France and Spain will no longer be exempted from the 15-day visa when entering Vietnam as before.
Under previous immigration laws, 13 countries including United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belarus, Japan, South Korea, and Russia are exempted from visa 15 days when coming to Vietnam for tourism purposes. However, due to the complicated situation, especially in Europe, the Vietnamese government organized an emergency meeting and made a decision to change this visa exemption policy today.
Countries including the UK, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France and Spain will no longer be exempt from the 15-day visa as before. The visa exemption policy for these eight countries will be suspended starting at 3 pm today, March 9, 2020.
However, citizens of United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, Spain can still apply for a visa to enter Vietnam, if not depart from the virus-effected regions such as Italy, Iran, Korea, and China. Applying for a Vietnam visa for citizens of these 8 countries can be done online via the website https://www.vietnam-evisa.com/apply/, without having to provide any documents. You only need to fill in the online visa application form. Visa results will be emailed to applicants after 2 working days. Thus, online visa is the best solution for citizens of 8 countries from Europe who can enter Vietnam at this time.
During the process of entering Vietnam, all foreign visitors will be required to fill out the health declaration form. The Vietnamese Government also recommends that visitors should strictly follow the regulations on hygiene and safety during their arrival in Vietnam.
