Citizens with Swedish passports will need to apply for a visa upon entry into Vietnam, even if the trip is less than 14 days, according to the Vietnamese government updated on 9/3/2020.
According to the latest update from the Vietnamese government, the visa exemption policy for Swedish citizens was officially canceled from 3pm on March 9, 2020. As such, citizens holding Swedish passports are required to apply for a visa when traveling to Vietnam from today. For those who have applied for visa and had visa approval can still use this visa to enter Vietnam normally. For those who have entered Vietnam before March 9, 2020 are still allowed to apply the 15-day visa exemption policy, until that visa expires. But for individuals who have not yet entered Vietnam, a visa is required upon entry from March 9, 2020.
This change was made in the afternoon meeting on 9/3/2020 of the Vietnamese government, in an effort to prevent the strong spread of the nCovid-19 epidemic. Sweden and 7 other countries including the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway, and Finland will be suspended from the 15-day visa exemption program when traveling to Vietnam.
Although the visa exemption program is suspended, Swedish citizens can still apply for a visa and enter Vietnam normally. Vietnam Visa can be applied online via the link https://www.vietnam-evisa.com/apply/, visa results will be emailed after 2 working days. Swedish citizens without a visa must quickly apply for visa ASAP. After obtaining a visa, Swedish citizens can enter Vietnam normally.
