Vietnam closed the borders and suspended visa from March 2020 due to Covid19. Many people find difficulties for applying a Vietnam visa because there is no way to process in this period. The government decides to open visa and border depending on the pandemic situation, and luckily, it’s opened now. As the latest update from Vietnam government, there are six international air routes are active again, and Vietnam visa is also opened for working purpose.
Although Vietnam government opens visa issuance again from September 2020, it does not mean all cases can apply Vietnam visa as before. Only official passport, experts, investors, business managers, high-tech workers are allowed to apply visa and enter Vietnam as the current law. The visa for tourists and other types of visa are still closed now.
The experts, investors, business managers, high-tech workers must be sponsored by a Vietnam company. This company is located in Vietnam and they must sponsor the applicant to prepare all required documents, quarantine fee, entry process as the province/city request.
In order to get visa to enter Vietnam, the experts, investors, business managers, high-tech workers need to process these below steps:
Step 1: Get “entry permit” from the local provincial people’s committee
The applicant asks the sponsored company or the visa agent to submit the entry request to the local provincial people’s committee (where the company is located) with specific details about the applicant’s job details as well as their travel plans;
Required documents: business license (scanned), passport photo (bio page), degree (if any), application form (signed and red sealed by the company).
Processing time: 3 – 4 weeks
Step 2: Apply visa approval letter from the immigration office
After getting the “entry permit” from the local provincial people’s committee, the sponsored company or visa agent will continue submit the documents to immigration department to get approval of entry.
Required documents: business license (notarized), passport photo, “entry permit”, form NA16, travel plan, air ticket confirmation.
Processing time: 4 working days.
After getting the approval letter from immigration department, it means you are allowed to enter and visa will be pasted onto your passport at the airport. You must print out “entry permit” and “visa approval letter”. You also are required to show the corona virus test within 3-7 days before departure date.
Quarantine is a must after entry. There is a list of hotels which provide quarantine service which are approved by Vietnam government in Ho Chi Minh city and Ha Noi. The sponsored company can contact the hotels to ask for quarantine service as well as airport pick up service. However, the hotels only accept after you get the “visa approval letter”.
