A Vietnam Temporary Resident Card (TRC), as its name, is the document which allows the foreigners to reside in Vietnam legally without apply any visa, and it is convenient to do the working, investment activities or getting married in Vietnam. That is the reason why temporary resident card is now used popularly in Vietnam. Can you apply for the temporary resident card in Vietnam? Which cases can apply this card? And how to get Vietnam temporary resident card?

1/ Who are eligible to apply Vietnam temporary resident card?

These below cases are considered to grant the temporary resident card in Vietnam:

• Foreigner who is a member of the two members limited liability company or more;
• Foreigner who is owner of the one member limited liability company (except as authorized representatives);
• Foreigner who is a member of the board director of the stock corporation;
• Foreign lawyer who is licensed to practice following Vietnam law by the Vietnam Ministry of Justice;
• Foreigner who granted working permit in all kinds of businesses or representatives offices of foreign companies;
• Professionals, students, trainees who are in the national working or studying programs which is signed between the ministries was approved by the Government;
• Relatives of the temporary resident card holder include: parents, spouse and children

2/ Documents to apply the temporary resident card in Vietnam

To apply a new issue of Temporary Resident Card, you should submit these below documents:

• 01 written request for temporary residence card (Form N7A); declaration about foreigners applying for temporary residence card (form N7B) with 02 photos (size 3×4 cm);
• 01 copy of passport and a valid visa (bring an original for comparison);
• 01 copy or duplicate of legal agencies, organizations, sponsor businesses record that are in need of proposal temporary residence card. As each case, foreigners may summit the following documents: investment certificate, business registration license, established representative office license, branch company (including active notices); seal registration certificate, 01 photo of working permit (bring original for comparison);
• The cases of bringing relatives: foreigner must summit some documents such as birth certificate, marriage certificate or household registration etc.

3/ Procedures to get a Vietnam temporary residence card

All documents must be fully prepared by the requirements of Immigration department. In case you cannot have enough the documents or don’t know how many documents are required for your specific case, you should contact a travel agency/visa agent as the sponsor to do your temporary resident card. They will give you the advice and simplify the number of documents you have to prepare.

The documents will be submitted at Vietnam immigration office in Ha Noi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh, and must be submitted before the expiry date of your current visa/work permit/visa exemption certificate (the document you used to enter Vietnam) and make sure your passport must be valid more than the visa date of temporary resident card you are applying.

After processing time (about 5 working days), the result will come and you will get a small card which allows you to reside in Vietnam with the specific duration validation.

4/ How long is the temporary resident card valid?

– The valid of temporary residence card is from 1 to 5 years, depending on the type of card you apply

– The valid of temporary residence card is less than the valid of passport.

– Not granting temporary residence card for foreigner who has valid passport less than 1 year.
