The Vietnam Government just approved the Decree No. 17/2019/ND-CP, about adding 35 more countries to e-visa list, included Palau. The Decree will take effect from February 1st, 2019 to February 1st, 2021. In this period of time, citizens of all eligible countries can apply Vietnam e-visa online.
The first Decree about Vietnam e-visa (Decree No. 07/2017/ND-CP), which took effect from February 2017, shows that citizens of 40 countries can apply Vietnam electronic visa, including: Azerbaijan, Argentina, Armenia, Ireland, Poland, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brunei, South Korea, Germany, Chile, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Cuba, Denmark, Timor-Leste, the United States, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Myanmar, Mongolia, Japan, Panama, Peru, Finland, France, the Philippines, Romania, Spain, Sweden, China (not applicable to Chinese e-passport holders), Uruguay, Venezuela, Norway, and Slovakia.
The Resolution 124, which took effect from November 2017, expands e visa granting to 6 more countries: Australia, United Arab Emirates, Canada, India, Netherland and New Zealand.
The Decree No. 17/2019/ND-CP, which took effect from February 2019, adds 35 more countries and territories to the list, including Austria, Iceland, Belgium, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Qatar, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Croatia, Estonia, Fiji, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Macedonia, Micronesia, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Salomon Islands, San Marino, Cyprus, Switzerland, China (included Hongkong SAR and Macau SAR, not applicable to Chinese e-passport holders), Vanuatu, Western Samoa, Serbia, Slovenia.
In conclusion, there are 80 countries and 2 territories (Hongkong SAR and Macau SAR) are eligible for applying Vietnam E-Visa. Please see “Who is eligible for e-Visa Vietnam” for more details.
Vietnam Electronic Visa (e-Visa) is an official document granted by the Immigration of Vietnam which permitting entry into and travel within Vietnam. It is an alternative entry visa issued at the embassies of Vietnam and visa on arrival.

e-Visa holders just go straight to the passport control to check & get stamp for entry 30 days, no need to pay any amount or go the visa issuing office to get visa. Other types of visa go to the visa issuing office to get visa before going to the passport control counter.
